Diamond Beach, Iceland.

Just off Route 1 on Ring Road in the southern region of Iceland is one of the most spectacular places on earth!! It’s known as Diamond Beach and it’s directly across from Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, yet it’s missed by many! DON’T let that happen to you!! It’s a must see!! It’s absolutely incredible!!

To me, THIS is Iceland! These two otherworldly wonders, the lagoon and Diamond Beach were without a doubt the highlight of our two week road-trip around the entire country! THIS is what left us speechless. If I hear another person come to Iceland and only visit the Blue Lagoon I may freak out!

Just like most things in Iceland, it’s unmarked, so keep your eyes peeled. Jökulsárlón, which most people can get directions to, will be on your left and the beach will be on your right when headed from Reykjavik.

The huge glass like “diamonds” against the black volcanic sand was so striking! Watching the tide move them so effortlessly was mind blowing!

We were actually lucky enough to visit twice, on both sides of the bridge. We camped in our Kuku Camper van feet from the lagoon on our anniversary. (It was certainly one for the books to wake up to this sight.). I will say both visits, at sunset and early in morning in mid October were super windy and very cold, so dress appropriately.
