Heart Beet Kitchen

Heart Beet Kitchen is such a sweet little cafe serving up organic, gluten-free, 100% plant-based foods made of locally sourced ingredients when possible. They have kombucha on draft, smoothies, as well as drool and splurge-worthy desserts. I was so absolutely torn with deciding just what to order for lunch with so many tempting choices, so I went for something I don’t see often, and that was the coconut BLT. It was to die for! An incredible sandwich! The coconut “meat” had a nice thick, smokey taste that didn’t compromise the coconut too much. The pieces had a perfectly crisp texture. It obviously didn’t taste EXACTLY like bacon, but what a fun play on the classic sammy and a nice option for us plant-based folks. It was served with avocado, tomato, arugula and a lemon garlic aioli that added a nice cool, creamy punch. Served on lightly toasted gluten-free bread. Originally I thought I would take most of the bread off as I normally do, but I wound up eating the entire thing. Every crumb! It was huge and totally packed, but oh, what great flavor and texture! I couldn’t get enough! The sammy was served with their signature orange tahini kale salad on the side which was dressed perfectly and was such a nice touch.

I paired it with their charcoal lemonade made with kale, apple, dates, and lemon. It was so refreshing and interesting!! Charcoal is so hot right now, and this is a good way for newbies to jump in a try it! Kiddos split the towering Pad Thai which consisted of zucchini noodles, edamame, cabbage, red peppers, carrots, quinoa, creamy cashew sauce, marinated onions, and meaty mushrooms. A portion is easily big enough for the three of us to spilt…with leftovers! It was light and fresh with a fantastic crunch. A nice, clean healthful take on the Thai dish! Awesome!

They sipped on a strawberries & cream kombucha on draft from our friends over at Inspired Brews in Philly. Love them!!The girls begged for a s’mores cupcake for dessert too. I had a nibble, and the cake was super moist and the frosting, rich! Yum! Definitely at least take one of their many scrumptious looking desserts home! They have community gatherings and sell hand made wares too. The place is bright and airy with fresh flowers on each table and outside by the entrance. Communal tables and smaller ones too. It’s a casual pay and order at the counter joint with kind, friendly employees.I’m always looking for new lunch spots when I’m in this neck of the woods and headed to the mall.

I never thought I would be saying “I wish we had this place in Philly”, but this one, absolutely!! So happy to learn it’s only 15 minutes from the city!

Tumeric golden latte, charcoal latte, and beetroot latte, plus some of their amazing sounding breakfast items are up next!

I really loved it here!

The creativity was remarkable and much appreciated!

CANNOT wait to return with my crazy little besties…

Happy & Healthy noshing!
