Himalayan Salt Caves

Touch of Grace Spa & Salt Cave

This place was amazing!! Absolutely amazing!!

You would never know that located in the corner of a strip mall in West Virginia lies this secret spot with the most incredible pink Himalayan salt cave!!

We called specifically to inquire about the salt cave when we happened to be in the area. We were told we needed appointments that are given every half hour. We were able to schedule one on the same day for the next available slot which was in twenty minutes! Perfect! We were told to bring white socks or if we didn’t have any that they would provide us with deposable booties.

My daughters (ages 6&8 at the time) and I arrived 15 minutes before our appointment as instructed and walked passed the walls of neat salt blocks and lamps near the entrance. We were welcomed warmly and given cold water. The courteous staff helped us place our belongings into lockers and showed us to the magical cave!

We entered the incredible cave filled with 10,000 pounds of imported Himalayan salt! Mind-blowing! The space was unreal! The floors were filled with salt and the walls were built with huge blocks of it! There was even a fireplace and mantel of sorts made from it as well!

We took seats in comfortable gravity chairs which came complete with a head pillow and cozy blanket. The room stays a consistently cool temperature in the mid 70’s all of the time. (I would suggest wearing loose layers)

Soon there was a calming voice explaining the process as the lights above started to flicker like shining stars. Relaxing music then started and accompanied us to our entire 45-minute visit. It was all out of this world!

Himalayan Salt Caves are said to improve our overall health and mood. Inhaling particles may reduce inflammation and mucus in the lungs, improving respiratory conditions such as asthma, allergies, bronchitis, sinus congestion, and COPD. Scientific studies show that people with asthma and other ailments breathe easier after time spent in the caves. Treatments have even been recommended to help keep the body healthy during flu or allergy seasons also.

There are also supposed calming effects of halotherapy which can support the immune and nervous systems. Benefits include reduced stress and headaches, increased energy, and better sleep patterns. Migraine sufferers have been known to frequent the caves.

Skin conditions such as psoriasis, rashes, eczema, acne can also be improved with halotherapy. The salt is said to be detoxifying and has strong rejuvenation properties.

Personally, we came to just relax, and boy did we! We were so relaxed and refreshed my little one who normally bounces off walls even fell asleep! We all left so happy and with salt taste on our lips as if we had spent the afternoon splashing in the ocean!

I was so thrilled to experience this with my daughters. It’s basically a natural, healthy, clean sandbox, and it’s completely safe for children! They may or may not have made sand angels. (Not sure if that’s allowed. Shhh!). I absolutely love spas I can bring my girls along to, and have a Mommy & Me Spa Day!

I would drive out of my way just to come here again! It was such a memorable day on our cross country road trip, and we hadn’t even made it that far from home yet!

If I lived nearby I would be hiding out in that cave regularly!! We all HIGHLY recommend!!

Prices were reasonable and are discounted for children!

Remember to hydrate the day of, and after your visit!

Stay salty,

XOX, Sar
