The Yard at Citizens Bank Park!

If you’re headed to Phillies game with the kiddos, DO NOT miss the ‘The Yard’, the new interactive baseball play space located by the old first base entrance at Citizens Bank Park!

In ‘The Yard’ you’ll find the Citizens Bank Phan Field, a 13,000-square-foot replica baseball field where the little MVPs can line up and bat wiffle balls, and/or play the outfield! (Or let them just run around and get the wiggles out! Yay!)

There’s a mural of the city skyline, and of course, the famous home run liberty bell too.

Above the field is a Jumbotron streaming the game, making sure you don’t miss a thing!

There are bleachers in “the dugout” for parents (or little ones who want nothing more than to shove their face into cotton candy) to sit back, grab a seat, watch the littles in the gated field, and just ENJOY! This idea is genius, and is going to be so appreciated by so many!

In the new space, you can get a taste of what the Phanatic does by shooting off foam hotdogs with the Hatfield Phanatic Hot Dog Launcher, which is actually the same size as the Phanatic’s!

Have your kiddos test their speed in the bullpen speed pitch!

Over here you’ll also find an oh so cleverly located Turkey Hill ice cream bar for kids and an actual bar for the adults. Who else remembers these ice cream helmet bowls from when they’re were a kid?

Our favorite activity in ‘The Yard’ has been the 30-foot Phanatic Rock Climbing Wall where kiddos can scale the city like their favorite superhero! So cool!!

Pro tips:

•Download the MLB app and sign your waiver prior to getting in line!

•The two courses on the sides are easier for the shorter kiddos. Ask for, and wait for those if your child is on the smaller side.

Some other things to remember:

•If it’s your child’s first game make sure to commemorate it with an official certificate from Guest Services behind section 122/123.

•Children under 2 are always FREE as long as they “lap-it”.

•Vegan dogs are located at South Philly Market (Section 128, 206, and 318) and ARE included in dollar dog night! Just sayin’

• The Phun Zone playground/jungle gym is also a great place for the real little kiddos to play, but it does close at the 7th inning, so be sure to get there in time to avoid any meltdowns! (Been there!)

There’s also Phood Cart located near the Phanatic Phun Zone behind Section 112 and in the Kids’ Corner located behind Section 318 on the Terrace Level which offers portions perfect for the wee ones… Phanatic Phun Meals, kid-sized hot dogs, pretzels, drinks, and a whole lot more can be found over there!

• You can rent out the park for your next big affair. It’s THEE coolest! Keep this in mind for big birthday parties, Sweet 16’s and Bar & Bat Mitzvahs for those die-hard fans! *Contact me if you need a decorator! I have just the gal!

*Party rentals include a personal video to be played for all guests on the Jumbotron! Looking out into an empty field you have all to yourself is incredible!

Themed nights are an extra blast! Grateful Dead, Star Wars, and Halloween have been my personal faves!

*Check out how I made these costumes of our favorite ballpark treats for last year’s Halloween themed night here!

•Look for the family-friendly giveaway games too! • Our favorite “locals only” way to get to the game (any and all games, that is) is by using Chickie & Pete’s Taxi Crab! Dine here before the game, park in their FREE lot, hop aboard the “crab”, which will get you there super fast while avoiding all traffic! It’s easy to meet at the designated stop to grab it on the way back too!

*It runs consistently throughout the game and up to 2 hours after. Be sure to bring cash for tipping your driver, who will give his personal number if you need an immediate/emergency pick up.

**Remember there are no child seats available on the crab, but it is the perfect designated driver option and a good option with larger children in tow!

Play ball!
